The Professional Development course is designed to assist our microbiology students in achieving their career goals by enhancing their ability to communicate their accomplishments effectively. Students will learn about the career opportunities in microbiology, how to prepare resumes and/or graduate and professional school applications, how to communicate effectively in an interview, and how to build a professional network. Emphasis will be placed on the use of selective/differential media for pathogen isolation; the key diagnostic features of pathogenic bacteria and the application of rapid technologies for pathogen identification.
